Jane Brophy slams Chancellor’s 'six mile insult' to the North

  • Jane slams government as Chancellor leaves Northern transport out of Budget
  • Six miles of road is all that Chancellor manages to pay for in entire North of England

Jane Brophy has slammed as “insulting” a budget announcement from the Chancellor to fund just six miles of road across the whole of the North of England.

“This feeble announcement by the Chancellor is insulting to the people of Greater Manchester and the North of England,” Jane said. “While the Government spends tens of billions on Crossrail in London, the North gets £90 million - enough to build just six miles of road.”

Jane, Liberal Democrat candidate for Mayor of Greater Manchester, is campaigning for fair funding for Greater Manchester.

“For too long we have been given a second class transport system and been told to be grateful for it. As Mayor of Greater Manchester, I will not accept that. I will fight for the transport system Greater Manchester needs and deserves.” Jane said.
